That “figurehead” is an inventor on over 300 of Apple’s patents, and had major input and final approval on hardware design as well as software. He’s probably got more designs in the Museum of Modern Art than anyone else. If you can’t recognize that kind of value, I’m guessing you won’t be “succeeding huge” anytime soon.

Quick quiz: was that a Galaxy or an iPad in the illustration above?

If Toyota had made a car that looked exactly like a Mustang, and you couldn’t tell if it was a Mustang or a Toyota without getting close enough to read the name on the steering wheel … yeah, Ford would have sued.

I totally agree the feature is great, But I’m sure that wacom would have the patent for this as they have been in the tablet business a bit longer than anyone else. Even if wacom use a pen they still have a “selective rejection”. Or has no one realised that trying to ink on a tablet wouldn’t work without it.

Selective rejection is part of the magic… You don’t even notice it.. but it makes using advanced apps like reactable and meta dj work much better.. without it, you would/could wreck a mix by just barely touching with your palm.

While surfing, it keeps the page from jumping all over the place. The on screen keyboard hugely benefits as well. I can type maybe 1/4 of the speed on my huge android screen which seems counter-intuitive..

Recognizing touch is easy.. disregarding inadvertent touch=genius and here’s a great example of there being a lot more involved in these suits than rectangular shape.

Samsung was so STUPID for ignoring jobs’ effort… A few minor tweaks and this whole mess could have been avoided… Ever heard the phrase “the multi-billion dollar customer is always right?”

Eh. Plenty of other companies have made it huge without a figurehead jackass like Jobs. That said, he does have a knack for telling people “Do it my way or you’re fired”, which I think is a necessary trait for software user experience manager (something Google sorely lacks).

What is the “right” thing?
As it is, they are basically suing Ford for making a car that competes
with their Lamborghini, because Ford’s vehicle has four wheels and an
engine, just like the “innovative” Lamborghini. Sad, but consistent.

Did Ford and Toyota ever sue each other because Toyota used tires on its cars after Ford did?
