Japanese company, Fairy Devices, have developed a new toy called StellarWindows that works with your PC to let you take a look at outer space. The toy includes CD software and a USB dongle and is intended for use on either a tablet or notebook PC.

You can use the toy by first installing the software on your computer, plugging in the USB dongle and then holding the computer up to the sky. An accelerometer and compass built into the dongle can detect where the computer is pointing and will then render a 3D image of the selected area of sky.

You can use StellarWindows on a desktop as well, though, as you can imagine, it is a bit more difficult to hold it up to the sky. This educational toy costs $240 and can offer you a bird’s eye view of what lies beyond our world.
