While we often can be found heaping scorn onto the me-too Atom N270 netbook ranges that pass our viewing window, Intel's low-power chip does occasionally find its way into an interesting machine.  Stealth Computer have slotted the 1.6GHz chip into their latest "Little PC", the Stealth LPC-395F, a fanless nettop with a ruggedized chassis and front-loading 2.5-inch hard-drive bay.

The LPC-395F measures a compact 6.54 x 6.18 x 1.89 inches and is reasonably resilient to various vibrations, temperature fluctuations and shocks.  Inside it has up to 2GB of RAM, dual gigabit ethernet, optional WiFi ($50) and a CompactFlash card slot that can be used to boot the whole PC; Stealth also offer various SSD upgrades if you're looking for extra security against vibration problems.

Since it'll run from 12-19V DC it's an ideal candidate for a mobile PC in a car or truck, but alternative uses include data acquisition and automation projects.  The Stealth LPC-395F is available to order now, priced from $795 (without a hard-drive).
