Criminy, what’s this?  Surely it’s not Motorola’s venerable V3m slender flip-phone in a new, vibrant colour?!  Believe your eyes, friends - Moto, carrier Sprint and RED (an initiative founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund) have held hands and decided to release a charity-minded V3m to generate money for AIDS and HIV research and support.

Sprint Red V3m

Okay, so it’s not a particularly current handset and, frankly, coloured V3 variants have really had their day, but it’s still one of the thinner handsets operating on the CDMA network.  Plus you get the following access on the Sprint network:

  • Sprint TV(SM) with more than 50 channels of live television and on-demand video and audio.
  • Sprint Movies, the first “pay-per-view” service for mobile phones in the U.S. that streams full-length movies, including recent box-office hits and timeless favorites.
  • NFL Mobile, a Sprint-exclusive wireless application that brings fans access to same-day video highlights, customizable real-time statistics, scores, injury reports and other information.
  • Sprint Music Store(SM), which allows users to browse and wirelessly download full-length songs directly to their phone.
  • Sprint Power View, the industry’s first made-for-mobile sports and entertainment video programming network.
  • Motorola and Sprint will both donate to The Global Fund for every handset sold, so you really ought to buy one.  Go now.  RUN.
