I know that it should technically be “possible” as they are the same technology but getting the phone into sprints system could prove difficult… even impossible? anyone work at sprint that knows ???

Well the way jobs is im sure that if the Iphone came to sprint the first gen sprint phone would be 3g only then the next gen would be WIMax. Now here are the reasons. First of all Jobs wouldnt put in the effort to squeeze in the hardware in a 4g version if it isnt going to sell, especially with the release of the Verizon version. 2. Why give you the best of the best when you can release newer versions a year later and rake in the $$$$. Anyway just a thought and something for everyone to think about.

I am so the opposite when it comes to your opinion. But to each his/her own. it would be a good business move for sprint no doubt. But if sprint does what they did last time the new iPhone came out which was release a better more capable phone (Evo) before the iPhone came out. I don’t see why anyone would buy it unless your just an iPhone fanboy. But again thats my opinion. only thing i think would be an immediate benefit to the customer is that HTC and Samsung would be forced to step up there game a little more.

YES! It should go to Sprint! Sprint is the best cellular company out there. My dad, mom, and I all have iPhones. Me and my mom have iPhone 4′s and AT&T sucks so bad. Now that Verizon has the iPhone, hopefully the new iPhone that comes out in July will be available for Sprint. YES YES YES! And if it went to Sprint that means that all three companies will have the iPhone and that means more people to FaceTime with. If Apple really wants to make it where you can FaceTime any of your friends then it needs to go to Sprint too! :)

Hey you chose the upgrade, I don’t buy every version of the iPhone, I have had the original and 4. And going from a iPhone first generation to 4 is like going from matches to a lighter. So don’t act like they are robbing people. However they have good marketing and a far superior product to android. I would love to see iPhone on sprint, as AT&T sucks bawls.

Don’t act like apple tortures you to buy a new phone with one feature added.

Their is a reason why apple declined to have the 4G option on ther verizon Iphone, its not ready yet. Sprint shouldn’t even advertise their crappy 4G, infact non of them should, Nothing annoys me more than when i see, “only available in selected markets” yet sprint still charges you a surcharge for their crappy 4G which drains the hell out of your battery life anyway. Apple is all about optimizing battery life and putting out the best user experience possible. There is a reason why people line up for iphones at launch day more than any other carrier, they actually spend time to ensure they put out a quality product, unlike HTC, blackberry and other carriers who push out phones faster than a rabbit pushes about baby rabbits.

If anyone has ever used an apple product, you know exactly what I’m talking about, from hard ware to software, everything has the feel like they actually care about making a quality product.

I’ve been with Sprint for 8 years and I have no desire to leave. If I ever were to switch, Verizon is the only other carrier I would ever consider. Even if the iPhone were to come to Sprint, I have been more than pleased with the EVO that I wouldn’t get the iPhone. I’ve messed around with the iPhone enough to know that I more prefer Android but that is just my personal preference.

What is all this criticism over having a 3G only iPhone? 4G sounds good from a marketing standpoint but after my experience with a wimax sprint evo and yes I live in a 4G area, I have found myself turning the 4G radio off almost all of the time for 3 very good reasons: 4G severly drains the battery much faster than using 3G, when using 4G my evo gets very hot, 4G speeds are nearly cut in half when used indoors. With these factors, I would be very happy with just a sprint iPhone that only does 3G. Plus, sprint charges an extra $10/month to access their 4G network with a 4G wimax phone regardless of whether or not you use it or live in an area that has 4G coverage.
I do not know anything about how 4G Wimax and 4G LTE compare when being used. If 4G LTE on verizon does not drain the battery significantly faster, keeps the phone temperature reasonable, and data speeds do not decrease significantly while indoors then maybe a verizon 4G LTE iPhone would be better. For now, I would be happy without 4G wimax on sprint but with an iPhone on sprint with only 3G…even better. :)

I’ll be honest. I don’t think even Verizon will have a 4G (LTE) iPhone when its 5th gen model drops later this year, so if Sprint can’t overcome their 4G ego, they can stand to make a good deal with even a 3G iPhone. People won’t care about 4G if they can get their hands on Apple goodness.

So it comes down to whether Sprint can relinquish their care about 4G in this one instance, to please their loyal subscribers. Then, down the road, when Sprint adopts LTE (they say they’re open to adopting it down the road), both companies can then enjoy some 4G iPhone goodness… perhaps with its 6th gen model.

To be honest though, I’ve never needed simultaneous data+voice. Have you? I’m doubtful…

If Sprint think they will make money from an iphone then they will release it even though it is only 3G, Apple will presumably be happy to release it on Sprint since it somewhat expands their market for a cdma device and shares out the development costs a bit more.

As far as Apple not going 4G yet, they just sell the one model and don’t have a range of devices unlike the companies who have released or announced an LTE or WiMax device in their range of models so it isn’t really a surprise that they have rushed to make anything use the first generation of these chipsets.

There won’t be a 4G iphone model, not for a long long time if ever. I’m a Sprint customer for over a decade, but the future is LTE which the majority of the world (except maybe Korea/Russia) will be migrating too. Apple will release an LTE version first. And since both Verizon and ATT are upgrading their network with LTE, Sprint can suck one in Apple’s eyes. I agree. I’m irate with Sprint’s executives flushing billions on WiMax when the future was clearly going to be LTE. And even their WiMax today is being smoked by HSDPA+ in terms of speed. Pathetic.

Unfortunately, there won’t be a Sprint iphone anytime soon. heres why: Sprint is focused on promoting and expanding their 4G wimax phones/network. It would make no sense for Sprint to release a 3G iphone. they would be taking a step back, plus data on 3G isnt unlimited (same goes for every other carrier) 4G IS unlimited however. Sprint would rather release a 4G unlimited data version of the iPhone for customer benefit over milking their customers for money on data charges. Apple will not do this.. Apple is known for their marketing expertise and reselling you the same exact item 5 times!! think how many ipods youve bought over the years.. they all do the same exact thing with 1 slightly new twist.. 1 may be smaller, 1 may be touch screen 1 may be thinner, 1 may have new colors.. THEIR ALL THE SAME. Apple likes to milk the same product as much as possible to rake in money. since there has been NO 3G CDMA iphone they wont cave and make a 4G iphone first.. its not in Apples nature. Apple is in it for Apple.

With that said. Sprint will want a 4G/wimax model, Apple will refuse to make a 4G/wimax model until theyve sold you 3 other identical 3G models. .therefor you wont see a Sprint iPhone. you can chaulk this one up to disguised misleading “greed”

As a Sprint customer I reluctantly got an Android phone. Having used an iPod Touch for the past few years I find it to be a much less pleasant experience and not nearly as enjoyable to use. Hope that Sprint iPhone is coming soon.

My guess is Sprint iPhone will be available in a form of Wi-Max. Sprint already has HTC Evo and Samsung Epic. Also it’d be smarter to get the Wi-Max since Sprint will be moving towards Wi-Max or “4G” their most noticeable recent phones all have been “4G” phones
