When wil the Android 2.2 be released. There is so much speculation and even the Sprint employees at the corporate store seem to be confused as to the release date. We need some answers here. I really like my Epic 4g over the Evo but I am so frustrated with the inability to use full flash sites. What's the word folks!?!?

Im am also a soon to be ex-Pre owner and would recommend the Epic for your needs as well as mine. I actually went to and suggest going to a Sprint Store and asking to see the phone, or what I initially did and go to a Tmobile or AT&T store and playing with their Galaxy S phones. I will miss my top button to switch from ring to vibrate, but Android as a whole is like this, so either way your screwed. As far as pictures and movies go, I would without a doubt go with the Epic, I did shot for shot at my local Sprint store with the EVO and Epic and the latter stood out slightly. A gentlemen in the store said it was the screen that made the pictures look better, but to me that was more of selling point then a negative, since I'm looking at these pics on my screen. Or my PC and/or TV with a better screen. More than like you would probably stream TV or even movies, I watched part of Avatar at the Tmobile which the full movie comes with their Galaxy S. I enjoy watching TV on my phone or MP3 player when I'm on a cardio machine at the gym, so Ill probably stream some TV I missed. The Epic is thicker by 1mm but the EVO feels larger in my hands overall, and the Epic actually doesn't feel to much different except for weight then my Pre. I hope this helps and you have 30 days to return and get the EVO.

i would go with the epic. i know i am.

and if anything goes wrong with it or you dont like it, you can return/exchange it within thirty days.

i too have it pre ordered thank god cuz now its not longer available for reservation. so we can at least get it, meanwhile last time i checked the evo was still sold out.

and for me i know im gonna download movies from bittorrents onto the sd or if the media hub has some good deals ill definitely be buying them and watching them on my tv at home and at school waiting for my class. the epic also has 3.5 mm jack out to the tv instead of hdmi. and the evo only allows viewing of pics and video you recorded. not full hdmi like a computer.

the epics screen also looks awesome and the keyboard is a plus. i use to love my old keyboard phone until the iphone came out and at the time it was the best and it was when i get my 3gs too but now android has evolved the smartphone. and even tho it has a keyboard it is only 1mm thicker than the evo. im gonna like having a keyboard for full layout texting/games and swipe for on the go texting.

stick with the epic!

I feel like most of your UI frustrations could be answered by using an alternative launcher (LauncherPro or ADW Launcher come to mind) this, i think would circumvent the touchwiz... volume issues come down to whether or not there is hardware buttons for it on the phone. You can get 'Beautiful Widgets' to replace the vibrate/silent toggles you'd be missing. android does not necessarily support viewing sms on the lock screen either, but you could grab widget locker to fix that. Android and apps allow many options for customization. now, personally, i'd go with the EVO, but that is mostly based on manufacturer and hackability, as i have no experience with either device (loyal droid 1 owner) happy hunting

Lemme ask this one final question, which has the better camera? And no, don't base this question off of the mega pixels. Which one works better! Is quicker to snap multiple pictures back to back? Has a better zoom? ETC

So for someone who has been a long (SINCE 2000) Palm fanboy, but is now leaving them for android, leaving his trusted quirky Palm Pre behind, what would one recommend? The EVO or the Epic. I have the EPIC pre-ordered but a few things bug me. One being the touchwiz, not that the entire idea of touchwiz bothers me, but another review pointed out that they removed the volume toggle from the unlock screen and something about how it wont show you messages on the lock screen; that you have to unlock to see them and then if you wanted to change sound, like muting the phone, u would need to go to the settings panel. 2 small things but for some reason, coming from Palm where i always have had a separate ring/no-ring exterior switch on the phone, and the WebOs has a nice way of displaying messages on the locked screen to glance at. So where should someone in my boat go? EVO or EPIC.
I am a picture whore, as in I take many through out the day, send them to twitter, friends, family etc. The better visibility of the screen in daylight sounds enticing, but HOW much better is it compared to say the EVO?
The other enticing thing that draws me to the EPIC is that i also have a Samsung tv and home theater system that are "whatever" compliant, so can I stream stuff right to my tv? But what would I stream? Photos? Music is all on ipod which has a dock on theater system. Movies? I doubt it, but it sounds like it could come in handy.
Finally, the size, i thought the evo was big enough, but the EPIC looks even thicker! Will this drive a person crazy?
