Spotify US deal with Sony Music reportedly final

The rumored Spotify Sony Music deal has supposedly been signed, with multiple sources telling AllThingsD that the streaming media company has finally inked an agreement with its first US label. Believed to be in the works for several months, it puts Spotify one step closer to a US launch, and may encourage other big labels – such as Universal, EMI and Warner – to get onboard.

While neither Sony nor Spotify will confirm the deal has taken place, it's believed to be roughly in line with what is currently offered in Europe. There, users can listen to a free, ad-supported catalog of tracks for a certain length of time each month, or pay a subscription for ad-free service or, more expensive again, ad-free access on mobile devices.
