Almost any other case that doesn’t depend on wrapping around from the front to the back of the device with hard plastic should work. Leather, silicone, rubber, smart covers all should work fine.

You are glueing a piece of glass to a piece of glass. This glass can scratch no differently than the piece its trying to protect. Plus bubbles are a problem sometimes.
