Sony Xperia Z4 leaked 3D renderings give a glimpse of new flagship

We saw a lot of new devices at the Mobile World Conference 2015, but we were disappointed when Sony didn't unveil a new flagship. Sony gave us glimpses of their Xperia tablets, but we saw nothing about a flagship phone. Maybe it's part of a strategy by Sony. As Sony continues to hold back information about its latest developments, it seems to just make me want it more. We got our hands on the newest leaked 3D renderings of the not-yet-released Sony Xperia Z4. Let's take a look at what we can expect from the next Sony flagship.

At first glance the Xperia Z4 bears quite a resemblance to its predecessor. Which is to say, it looks the same! A similar exterior doesn't denote the same specs, so let's see exactly what might have changed. Judging from these images, Sony has done away with the microSD slot, though, the Z4 maybe using a SIM and microSD combo slot hidden under the flap cover.

Sony has also moved the microUSB port to the bottom of the device. There is no flap covering the port, and this could affect the Z4's waterproof and dust-proof rating. Adjacent is probably a divot to attach a decorative strap.

Although we can't be certain what the final product will look like, let's break down what we do know. When it finally arrives, the Xperia Z4 is supposed to be 146.3 mm (5.76 in) long and 71.9 mm (2.83 in) wide with a thickness of only 7.2mm. The screen is said to be 5.2 inches with either Full or Quad HD display. We can look forward to a rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon processor S810 with 3GB or 4GB of RAM for speedy browsing. The Z4 is even said to have a 21 megapixel camera on board.

There are no markings on the backside at all which alerts us to the idea that these 3D renderings probably aren't finished. Also, these are just renderings and not an actual prototype, so we have no way of knowing if this exact model was actually made. The Xperia Z4 is expected to launch between June and September this year. We'll just have to be satisfied by leaks until then.
