Newly leaked pictures show what is billed as the Sony Xperia Z3. Alongside it is the Z3 mini, which looks much the same as the big brother, just a touch smaller. If the pics are accurate, it seems Sony is moving on with their recently rehashed design language for hardware.
The Xperia Z3 is the same blocky form factor we’ve seen in recent Sony Xperia handsets, which they refer to as OmniBalance. The pics don’t give my detail other than a face-on look, but we can assume — based on the overall shape and other Sony handsets — this one will keep all the things that make a Sony handset special, like a dedicated camera button.
The larger Xperia Z3 is purportedly in white, while the smaller Xperia Z3 mini stares back in black. We’ve no idea what the sizes are, here, so it’s hard to say if what we’re seeing is the regular and mini, or some kind of Z3 Ultra and a Z3. Given the popularity of the Z Ultra, though, we’ll go with what’s being reported.
There were o details of the handset accompanying this pic, sadly. We’ve heard it will run on a Snapdragon 801 or 805, and pack 3GB RAM. The camera is one we’d love to hear about, but it’s safe to assume Sony will stick with their 20MP shooter. There’s obviously no timeline for release, either, but IFA in Berlin this fall could be a good event to earmark for this one.
