Sony Xperia Z1S and Xperia Tianchi rumored for November 12 launch

Word has it that Sony is preparing a media event in Shanghai next month, something that is expected to be the unveiling point for two new Xperia handsets, the Xperia Z1S and the Xperia Tianchi. Though nothing is official yet, the phones are likely heading to China first, after which point their other destinations — if any are planned — are unknown. More information will likely surface in the coming weeks, but until then, we have some specs on both phones after the jump.

The Sony Xperia Z1S is an apparent variation of its Xperia Z1 and similar handsets, a remake of sorts that is popular with competitor Samsung. Unfortunately, little is known about this smartphone as far as specifications are concerned, but we do have some rumored information on it, not the least of which is an anticipated 4.3-inch 720p display, a solidly mid-range offering.

Beyond that, the Xpera Z1S is also said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which would give it some substantial power under the hood. Though more information on this particular handset isn't know, this would make it similar in nature to the Xperia Z1 f. From there, there's also the Xperia Tianchi, which is said to have a larger 6-inch display with a 720p resolution.

Despite the large screen size, which would make this a "phablet" offering, this particular phone is expected to be a budget handset, offering a MediaTek 2GHz MT6592 "True Octa Core" processor that was introduced not too long ago. As always, we'll update you as more information surfaces, so stay tuned!
