It’s custom, just like almost everyone else, but Sony removed its Timescape UI. It’s more “Android” now than before.

It’s lit by TFT LCD, you can’t expect viewing angles at par with AMOLED screens. I own an Xperia TX, and its 720p 4.6in screen is very, very sharp. I can only expect the Z to be monstrous.

A smartphone smaller than the ZL is too small to be comfortably used as a smartphone IMO. Buy then again, I’m going for the Xperia Z anyway. Five inches, yes please.

ZL is thicker not waterproof but does have a dedicated photo button and IR (I like that). But what I mean in size, is a smaller screen and thus smaller width and height (even slightly smaller than the ZL) But ofcourse that’s just my personal preference.

The camera in the nexus 4 is crap. The Sony Xperia S already shot amazing pictures, the Xperia T and Ion were even better and hopefully, the Xperia Z will be top notch as well…

But yeah, the Nexus 4 camera is crap so no need to compare it to the camera phones sony makes

This is without a doubt the first Sony phone I have ever wanted. I’ve only read the article and have not yet watched the videos… But you didn’t address whether or not it uses a pure version of Android or some skin though.

Still too big. Would be a no brainer for me if it fit my pocket and hands. I’ve enjoyed my galaxy nexus the last year and I’ve been an early adaptor of Android phones, but the trend with bigger phones is annoying me and I’m even thinking about my first iPhone since I’ve held the 5 in my hand :( If only some manufacturer would build a smaller phone with premium specs but slightly smaller than the lastest models and running android, I’d buy it instantly!

I’m glad Sony’s back with the vengeance. This WILL be my next phone for sure, I love that unusual power button on the right. Hopefully the 13 Mpx camera bests the one found in Nexus 4, which has been a bit of a let-down. I just hope Apple won’t sue Sony because they’re using rounded edges and glass-protected back…

wow…just wow…i didn’t know Sony smartphone have that beauty of a screen (or is it the first sony smartphone to have that?). and camera with HDR for still and video. I’m a little bit of Nokia fan, but damn…this phone makes Lumia 920 (or even the iPhone 5) looks weak..

Very nice device and a great, detailed article to showcase it. So far I wasn’t crazy for Sony phones at all but this one certainly makes for an attractive package.

Oh, also totally love that OEMs are finally ditching hardware keys and those annoying inflexible capacitive keys for virtual on-screen ones.
