Sony Xperia Honami pre-IFA unveil gains traction

It looks like all the rumors and leaks about the new flagship Sony Xperia Honami announcement date are true. According to Businessweek, the Sony Xperia smartphone, code-named Honami, is being revealed on September 4, confirming speculation that the Sony press conference invite being distributed, is in fact for this product reveal.

The Xperia Honami is slated to be revealed alongside Sony's Lens Cameras and ultra high-definition TVs two days before the start date for the IFA consumer electronics show. IFA runs September 6-11. Though Sony hasn't confirmed this date, Businessweek appears confident in the early announcement thanks to two inside sources.

It's looking more and more likely that this is going to actually happen now, which should confirm all the previous leaks. The Honami or i1 is slated to be very similar to the Sony Xperia Z with the addition of a 5-inch AH-IPS display with 1080 x 1920 pixels and a 20+ megapixel camera.

All of this will happen alongside the official announcements for the Sony Lens Cameras, the QX10 and QX100. These cameras are designed to use your smartphone, Android or iPhone, as a display. New Sony action cameras are also slated to make an appearance at the press conference, but details about these products are scarce so far.
