It was a sweeping change from the locked down nature of the PS2 that had expensive memory cards.

I just wonder if they intend to somehow “Vita” the PS4 with regards to memory. I think they would like to if they had a way to make a proprietary HDD that only Sony could manufacture. They could also do the same with the controllers and instead of standard USB ports they could go to a proprietary interface to recharge them.

Hand-helds and consoles are completely different beasts. With it’s integrated Blu-ray player, and USB 2.0 ports the PS3 was rather compatible. I plugged a mouse and keyboard in to my PS3 and it worked without needing anything, I even plugged in a Logitech PC game-pad after my nephew broke my Dualshock 3 controller and it worked no problem.

I’m skeptical about the Vita too. (Although to be honest hand-helds have never done much for me so I suppose I don’t really care much.) I just don’t see where the attitude towards the PS4 comes from?
