Sony VPL-VW1000ES Full 4K projector targets your lounge

Sony has outed its latest projector, the VPL-VW1000ES, and with it a push to get Full 4K resolution video into the home. The company's latest flagship, the VPL-VW1000ES runs at a whopping 4096 x 2160 resolution and at 2,000 ANSI lumens, making it four times the resolution and almost twice as bright as Sony's previous 1080p home projectors, as well as capable of a 200-inch image.

That's courtesy of a new SXRD 4K panel which, Sony claims, is capable of a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ration when paired with its Iris3 technology. Dynamic contrast is always a bit of a fudge, but 4K upscaling – from SD or HD content, in either 2D or 3D – is more welcome; anything up to Full 4K 3D is supported, with an integrated IR emitter that works with Sony's active shutter 3D glasses.

Connectivity includes two triggers for motorized screens and curtains, a 2.1 motorized zoom, and support for home automation systems with an RS232 interface and control over IP compatibility. No word on pricing at this stage, but expect to pay handsomely for this 4K cyclops.
