After researching a dozen of ultrabooks (HP, Toshiba, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Samsung, and Sony), I have decided to purchase this primarily because it has an optical drive and it weighs about 3 lbs. My configuration for this machine is as follows: i5-3320M processor, Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, 8GB, and 256 SSD. It might not be as super-thin as the other ultrabooks but it will be as fast and functional!

Ps. You have been using Macintosh for a while longer than you realize.

Thats what I've done, I've increased my DPI to read more clearly. You know what DPI is? Its not useful when you have 1080p resolution along with high DPI. It a waste of space, when I want a 1080 resolution, I'll want more space but in 13" case, my 1080 would be useless if most the space are taken by font and icon size. I could fit exactly that much icon with a 1366x768

I have a 14.1" standard screen (4:3) laptop that is less wide than any 15.6" widescreen, has a larger resolution than most 15.6" laptops, and only has two USB ports, stacked on top of each other, on the side; the rest of the ports (including two more USB ports) are in the back, where they belong. Why would I choose a 13.3" that is smaller or 15.6" laptop that is wider, has a lower resolution, and has ports all along the side that get in the way of my drink, my paperwork, and my mouse?

I'll stick with my old outdated laptop that runs all of my development apps just fine that I don't need to watch movies on and is fine to carry and take on an airplane.

Who uses a 13" laptop? People that prefer them over "desktop replacements", obviously. There are those of us that actually like traveling with their laptops, and besides sometimes it's just nice to have a ~2lbs device that can be comfortably used on your lap from the living room couch.

And no, tablets aren't a suitable replacement for this usage scenario because a) it's not very comfortable to be looking /at/ your lap for 2-3 hours, and b) none of the high quality ones run useful operating systems yet.

LOL?! 13" laptop is good for those that always need it portable, women to be precise. You cant expect them to drag their laptop 15.6" around. I found myself rarely do that with my 15.6". Those slot are no problems at all, unlesss you are too picky. Who would use hdmi and vga (projector) at the same time? Please think. Three USB are perfectly on the right side, I'm not a left hand user. Even if you are a left hand user, I highly doubt you use your mouse with your left hand. I've got many friends that are left hand user, they've never use mouse with their left hand
