Sony to debut AMOLED Touchscreen Walkman, says Sony Insider

The Walkman was a household name back in the good old days; I got my share of Walkman in tape, optical disk but somehow never longed for an MP3 version. I wonder it has anything to do with the iPod? Nearly 30 years of carrying the brand "Walkman", Sony preps to launch its most advanced and feature-rich Walkman Music player ever at the coming CES 2009.

Leak originated from Sony Insider, two touchscreen walkmans, a 16GB and 32GB models featured 3-inch WQVGA AMOLED display with 10k:1 contrast, wide color gamut and viewing angle are set to debut in Vegas CES show. WiFi with WPA and WEP supports will be included as well as favorite artist on Amazon search, Youtube apps to explore artist music videos and over the air podcast downloads are many new features expected to be on the upcoming Walkman.

Audio codec support includes MP3, WMA, AAC, PCM, while video codec support is AVC (h.264), MPEG-4 and WMV. These along with FM radio will go though a high fidelity audio output combines with optimized digital noise canceling system and a powerful S-Master digital amplifier. Product pricing and availability have not been revealed.
