So are you excited about Sony’s recent price cut to the PS3? Well don’t be. Think of it as more of a “clearance price” than a price cut per se. That’s right, Sony is dropping the 60GB PS3 from the US.

$499 PS3

Seriously Sony, you had a good thing going with that price cut. People were getting excited about only having to pay $499 for the 60GB PS3, not to mention it still had the Emotion Engine chip, which the 80GB model lacks. It’s great that we can now get an 80GB model for the same price as we were paying for the 60GB, but you just dropped the Emotion Engine chip which is going to cause issues when trying to play some (not all) of the older games.

It looks like you’ll want to rush out and grab that 60GB PS3 quick while they’re still available. As soon as their current stock runs out, they won’t be available any longer.
