What quality you say? Well for starters compare the recent blockbuster Backstab to Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Yeah that kind of quality difference. Also CyberGusa sums up the difference between a smartphone and a dedicated game system pretty well.

It’s not what the system costs to build but what they give you for the price that determines quality. Features like OLED screen is extremely rare and considered a premium feature with bright colors than you’ll see in pretty much anything else.

Really, Smart Phones don’t cost all that much to make either but they still get priced at hundreds of dollars without contracts and the PS Vita is without contract!

While the PS Vita also has quad core GPU as well as quad core CPU, but even then Smart Phones aren’t designed to give full performance to gaming. Factors like Android not being designed as a gaming OS prevent full optimization of system resources.

Most Smart Phones are intended as general purpose devices, capable of doing many things but doing none of them as well as a dedicated device. Like you can take pictures with a Smart Phone but a dedicated camera can easily be far better.

So it’ll take more than just equivalent hardware to eclipse the PS Vita gaming performance.

The only question is whether there is enough demand for such a device, as the main appeal is for mobile gaming and also has to compete with the less capable but more affordable Nintendo 3DS.

What quality? A game system that costs Sony only 160$ to manufacture. How is that quality? Also within this next year all phones will have quad-core processors like the vita.

it would really be sad if dedicated Portable game systems go the way of the dodo, I own many mobile games and for me its just not the same quality or feeling. It’s a shame that the majority of consumers out there don’t care about quality.
