Sony Japan have confirmed the SOCOM Bluetooth headset for PS3 that we first caught glimpse of back in June.  Set to launch on October 30th in Japan, alongside SOCOM:CONFRONTATION, the headset uses the Bluetooth v2.1+EDR standard and automatically pairs with your PS3 after you plug in the included USB charging cradle.

Noise cancellation is supported, and the battery is rated for up to 8hrs of talktime or 300hrs standby.  When connected to a PS3, gamers will be able to call up an on-screen display of headset connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status.

The SOCOM headset will also work with your cellphone, supporting both the headset and handsfree profiles, although it’s not clear from the press release how many devices it can simultaneously be paired with.  It weighs around 19.5g.

Price will be ¥5,000 (around $46 with tax), and a limited edition bundle of the headset and SOCOM:CONFRONTATION will be available for ¥8,000 in Japan at least.
