I am planning to buy one of these famous PS3's tomorrow as I get pay weekly I am going to pay £6.01 per eek for 52 weeks but should ge the PS3 before I start paying for a 2 week try out my reason for choice though the Wii has mario it lacks memory for games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 as I found out whenit came playing it they hadn't used the havoc engine and there was no alternate costume it was nothing like the version shown on the site and that HD and better memory version was in fact on PS3 I havent played a playstation console since my PS2 had broke don 2 years ago as it said reading disc in the browser menu and the writing suddenly dissapeared and nothing happened and my sisters ps2 started saying disc read error to every disc we put in what i'm rying to say is the ps2 couldn't hack someone playing it constantly you know the gamers what can't stop playing like I couldn't I will try not to play the ps3 and ware it out though in fact really the ps2 was second hand from my cousin and it had lasted a good 6 years alltogether but i'm looking forward to playing the ps3 slimline but I mat get the ordinary ps3 because of the slimline lack of ps2 game compatibility as I miss playing GTA san andreas as it was my fravourite GTA game on ps2 i'm hoping there will be a san andreas sequel but I am also hoping that the ordinary ps3 would be cheaper before christmas but alast it doesn't matter as I can aford the slimline but can't yet afford a game to come with it. I am most happy of the fact that you don't get charged so much for internet on it as you do with the xbox series.

I am not a 360 Fanboy, I won't even start to go off at the 360 since this isn't the time or place. This was a simple response to what is an slow crippling of what was once a fairly featureful device. They aren't lowering costs by removing anything which actually lowers the cost to manufacture the device.. sure the hardware PS2 support probably saved them a few cents but the software emulator which they wrote inhouse? And secondary OS support? 2 USB ports probably saved them.. well less then it cost them to reprint all the manuals.

The system is crippled by its cost, there is no doubt about that. Taking features away and then dropping the cost marginally is not that answer to that. It is an expensive system, Sony should embrace that. Make it a sweeter deal by courting more developers, instead of spending their time gutting the system for a small price drop they should be spending their time developing games for said system and justify the price.

While I have my pet peeves with Sony and their wacky business decisions, your rant smells of 360 fanboyism.
I used my PS3 to watch blu-rays, watch netflix instantly, hulu, cbs, espn online (via PlayOn), youtube also, and watch local media (hundreds of episodes of TV shows, or ripped DVDs and CDs (via PS3 Media Server), oh and GAME, and folding... I haven't mentioned one thing they're removed. Neat huh?
Now, kudos to Sony removing features in order to lower costs which is what they should have a: either never included in the first place so fanboys like you would have less to bitch about, or b: should have removed sooner to prevent the incredibly slow bleeding and bad press.
But this takes me back to me pet peeves about Sony...

Wow, Sony has actually decided to release a cheap Chinese knockoff of their own product. Without actually making it cheap of course and continuing their course of gradually crippling the device until all it will be able to do is charge your creditcard at random intervals. (that is coming in the upcoming firmware). First they take away 2 USB ports. Then they take away hardware ps2 support. Then they take away software ps2 emulation. Now they take away Linux and any resemblense it had to a 300 dollar piece of entertainment equipment. The only thing it has going for it is the processor and that can only take an electronic device so far. Lol.
