I could never understand all this need for backwards compatability. Ok, a few extra leads, but so what? the PS2 slim takes up no space at all and you can pick a second-hand one up for about 30 quid.

Besides, I love all that faffing about and sifting through memory cards - I have to do it for my Gamecube, N64 and go on a DS hunt behind the sofa occasionally, it's what give it character, lol!

I have PS1 dlc on my PS3 and yes it's VERY handy - but it strangely takes something away......maybe I'm just old fashioned.

PSP2 is a sequal to PSP its not another remake like the PSP GO (Which was just dumb of Sony to bring out...true) why does everyone compare, as long as I can play games it should do its job. As for Nintendo's products there usually the fastest to get emulated so people again just buy it for the name they will never have PS graphics, even if its late it usually comes out good such as PS2 -> Nintendo 64 / PSP -> NDS and remember Nintendo was on the handheld market longer. As for Android and iOS there game suck how do you compare something like Crisis Core to one of there weak games, I can just get those on my laptop...even the PSP, yeah okay touch screen it gets boring after a while.

Ok so first of all what is wrong with the download for pspgo?? the only problem im having is with socom ftb3 and that is the develpers fault not sony i do have a problem with the lack of apps and the shitty internet browser(why even have it only a few sites actually work on it) but the i pod touch...seriously finger prints all over the screen yes i understand that there is a wider audience because apple is advancing so quickly. But does it not say something that sony are taking there time on this (as they did on the ps3 havent heard ANY complaints about that) all im saying is dont judge before youve seen it and the psp go is only a failure because very difficult to hack (damn cheap americans always tryin to hack there shit) and that lack of phone but hey I ALREADY HAVE A PHONE if sony wanted to add a phone to the psp i would be very dissapointed i like the idea of a chat room for psn users preferably the same as on ps3 its very simple to incorperate i could do it myself but would involve hacking the psn network to have access to your friends list etc but i have heard rumors that it is coming in a firm ware update (then all u cfw assholes will be crying)

For me, the psp-3000 is the perfect mobile gaming device, great graphics (for a portable),battery life, perfect layout(basically a controller with a screen), convenient size, and the ability to download or purchase a hard copy of the game. I would be content for life if they kept developing games for it. Unfortunate for me, money dictates the flow and crappy little games that even I have purchased on my iPhone are the current market leader and it matters none to them whether their money is made from angry birds of disgaea. Contrary to the conventional wisdom I do believe downloads are the way to go for mobile gaming. Mp3 players have crushed the cd market and mobile gaming is just now catching up. Why wouldn't you rather have 10 games on a memory stick instead of hauling around your gamestop case full of umd's? The people complaining are just in the death throws of a change over and they will all come along eventually. In my perfect world the psp2 would be the same as the 3000 except the screen would also be touch, the graphics would be updated ,it would have built in storage and a produo slot, and it would have a browser and app store on par with the iPhone, you could use netflix on it and most important Sony will get all the damn psp ,Psone, and any other game that can be supported by the hardware on the playstation store!

IMy girlfriend has an iPod touch and I enjoy playin some of the games on there but sometimes I miss hitting a button or the game just gets boring after a while... I want games with story lines that I can play when my ps3 isn't near me. I don't want my gaming system being a phone. At first the idea did make sence but one day when I was playing my PSP my girlfriend called me. Then it hit me, it's nice being able to talk and game at the same time with out putting your phone on speaker phone. iPhone wont have this problem as much cause who cares if you have to wait a few seconds to throw your paper ball into a trash can, but on the psp we play real games.

The PSP never was for average joe who's entire gaming career consists of playing Angry Birds wihile riding the bus to work either - and neither will the PSP2 be.

The PSP2 will be for people like me that want to play something like MGS with proper controls while riding the train to visit my brother or when I just feel like doing some proper gaming on a handheld in my sofa.

Gaming on a touchscreen will never feel as good as gaming with dedicated controls. I'm also pretty sure the PSP2 will deliver better performance than your average smartphone (which for both iPhone and Android varies between hardware revisions/manufacturers).

Totally agree! These days people don't want a mobile phone, laptop, game boy, organiser etc... They just want one thing to do everything on the move and the iphone/droid phones do it. So what if the games are simpler, average joe doesnt usually have time to play 3 hours of MGS on the bus to work anyway.

You're absolutely right. Sure, there's going to be plenty of people out there that say, "Hey, the PSP2 is great!" but the end result is going to be the same as it was for the PSP Go: failure. Sony already showed they can't do a portable game console without physical media, while Apple is showing that they can't do any wrong with their lack of physical media and gaming for their mobile devices.

Rumors have it that the PSP2 will also probably be without physical media, but let's hope Sony knows better than that. The only way they can hope to come out on top from this, is to make a physical gaming unit that really does blow away the competition specifications wise, but also make it cost enough that people will want to buy it (which is one area that Nintendo is losing some grip with their 3DS). Will that happen? Probably not. But, it's a good pipe dream nonetheless.

it's already too late. the PSP Go is dying in front of our eyes. the new 3D DSI will keep the DSI alive, but only barely. the low-priced game model of the iOS products, now spreading to Android et al, is killing both. the iPad and iPod touch - plus iPhone for teens, a market now totally lost to them - will blow them both away in sales this holiday season (except in "hometown" Japan).
