I fell for it the first time with the PSP. Won't be making the same mistake twice. I bought it specifically for the promise of a real GT game soon after launch...that worked out well didn't it???

Why do you play only "a few times" on your phone if it's so great?
1) You've grown up and you no longer play games that much, so the psp2 wouldn't be targeting you anyway;
2) Touchscreen phones are fragile, expensive devices designed for careful adult people running web applications and not for kids - hence their controls are only appropriate for a very limited subset of the games offered by a dedicated console, which also costs much less; and even if they were good, they would break after a week if used by the same audience that do spend hours playing with their DSes or PSPs;
3) The battery of your phone is drained in less than a couple of hours if you use it for gaming, and leaves you stranded without the other important functions offered exclusively by your phone, whereas a dedicated game console can play continuously for half a day.

Unfortunately i have to agree.. i like my psp go but gaming on my phone is already great as it is for the few times i play on my phone. I won't carry a thick phone with dedicated game buttons if i can do almost the same on the touch screen and i don't think a lot of other people would do so. They should have made a dual screen so the screen can be used for a keyboard as well as for gaming. This way a broader group of people would be attracted to the device and it could have various functions as well for game play. Only in Japan it might be a hit.. but not for the loads of casual gamers..

Well, he may have a point to be honest. I would argue that Sony is hedging their bets with the PlayStation phone for a reason.

The PSP has always gone after the older kids market to begin with. The DS has been aimed more at the younger crowd, as Nintendo products usually are. The problem is that cell phones are taking over the older market. Why carry a handheld gaming device and a powerful phone at the same time? The PlayStation phone is probable the future for this market segment, a combination of both device's strengths; controls and usability. Perhaps the PSP2 can find a home as a higher definition device, but even that market is quickly getting filled by tablets, and how long till controller pairing becomes common there? The only advantage a dedicated portable gaming device has is its controls and the ability to suspend most of the OS, but I doubt the march of time will not bring those features into the cell phone realm as well.

Will this kill the DS, probably not. Who wants to give their 6 year old a cell phone? The children's market will likely persist further into the future. Considering the features that Nintendo keeps adding into their handhelds we might just see them morph into something resembling 'my first cellphone, a protected and child friendly cell phone. Something that can take pictures, access a filtered internet, and can only talk with a parental protected list of individuals. (E.G. Daddy, Mommy, and Grandma only.)

And as to the "hand held markets already over saturated" comment Id say thats way off too. I play games on my Wii, Ps3, and my Droid X- (Nes Emulators) controlled with a Wii remot.
 When Nintendo puts out 3ds Im getting that and the ps2!!!
