They are selling xperia x10 at more than 400 dollars easily without providing large ultimate screen and no inbuilt memory and third class performance and making a lot of money by fooling us . Do you expect the Sony releases a psp for 500 dollars with hd 4.3 inch screen and 16gb inbuilt , graphics processor and ram and robust dual anolog , and hd cam , the production cost of iPhone is less when compared with psp 2 :)
Sony psp 3000 is worth every penny when it comes with price tag of just 180 dollars with memory card . Because Sony psp has got a DVD drive in it . iPad doesn't come with DVD drive
My 2 cents

Well Here's My PSP Fannish Expectations:

SONY should ask itself: "What should our nextgen hand held include for the owner to cherish his/her new PSP more than any other gadget ? " I suggest the following.

- 1080p resolution on a 4.3" screen (highest screen size used in mobile phones today) is meaningless. Since people don't have any problem holding an iPAD ==>
1080p on a 6" PSP2 screen ( can watch movies / anime / play full hd games) FANCY !!!

- One device multiple use: Phone capability including 3G/4G (for some countries) + Wifi b/g/n + PDF support + advanced internet browser (flash aupport) + facebook/twitter/skype/msn (if microsoft agrees ) + note / calendar/ reminder / mail application

- [ CCD ] camera (not cmos) 720p (that would kill all cell phones)

- video call camera 720p

- touch screen + pad (including 2 analog sticks) e.g. play with pad and buttons / configure games options + game characters upgrades using touch screen e.g Final Fantasy / MGS

- reputable speaker

- 16 gb internal memory + ability to use memory stick

I think all I mentioned are already possible in various hand held devices, however combining them all in a PSP2 able to play ps2 gfx in 1080p resolution will beat everything starting with iphone suck !!

I agree completely. And, after that extra year the only way it may have been possible for them manufacture some momentum was through some killer exclusives, which were very slow in coming, too late even to be a speed bump to the 360's progress. I'm not a fanboy, I have a 360 and a PS3 and I use my 360 far more (which is unfortunate, since the PS3 is far better constructed), even with bluray functionality, and the fact of the matter is, after awhile, I'm afraid to turn on my PS3. Despite the "super computing" technology of the cell processor, system updates are a waitfest on the PS3, very long compared to Microsoft's updates for the 360.

I think there were many people that waited for Sony's response to the 360 and in the end they overcomplicated themselves into 3rd place. The consumer/gamer saw that after an extra year, Sony's only 1-up was bluray playback and graphics/power went to the 360 while the casual gamer only had eyes for the Wii. The PS3 may have more power hidden in there somewhere, but we'll never see it since devs are looking for the easiest way out.

Oh, and who wants to bet that the Memory Stick is still a part of the equation? No need to make things easier for the consumer.

“But you can definitely play immersive games better with physical buttons and pads. I think there could be games where you’re able to use both in combination.” Is that right, Kaz? Let me see, where have I encountered that model before? Oh, yeah the Nintendo DS!!!!! Really, Sony, there's nothing else you have to say but "I THINK there could be games where you're able to use both in combination"? Granted, the DS family doesn't have a touch screen the way we think of them today, thanks to, well, Apple really (I know: HTC had the first all touch phone, about a couple months before the iPhone, but it wasn't the hit nor the game changer that iPhone proved itself to be). So Sony really is just talking about having a better touchscreen experience than DS, with better resolution. Great, but I just can't shake the image that there is large chamber somewhere deep in a mountain in Japan where the eternal elders of Sony make their slow and ponderous observations and decisions about their next business strategy. It's as though they have no sense of time, because if they remembered how the PlayStation rose to such dominance (by being timely and first, that's how the 360 leap-frogged, heh heh, past them this generation). How, how, how could it have taken them this long to think about touchscreens? And then to discuss it in a tone of "well maybe this could work, there might be an experience that could use this [already wildly popular and proven] integration of technologies." I'm getting a sore neck from so much shaking it in wondrous disbelief .

Sony ignored everything the hardcore gamer has wanted in the past. I hope they can be sensible this time around. Dual analogues or trackpads is a must.
The phone integration idea is a bust. Who wants to buy a game system that comes with a contract? The iPhone comes with the piece of mind that it does nearly everything, but you wont find many hardcore gamers there.
I think the best they can do is supplement iOS by not stepping on it and look into what would provide the most immersive experience. The typical faster/better formula would work this time round. Somebody say Tegra3?
