I'm confused, how is it a problem? Sony was onboard with Google day 1 and released their offerings 10/06/10. This product is for people who don't have or cannot afford a "NEW" internet connected SmartTv. Sony made 32", 40", & 46" internet TV's with Google integration and it failed because it was limited. The main complaint on Sony was that the remote wasn't backlit and congested and they didn't give a STB without the BlueRay drive option. They addressed all of these issues in these 2 new Set-Top Boxes. Now they only need to drop a release date and price for them both.

Why can't a Google TV product connect to their other products? I see no lack of focus. It would be no different than if they released a laptop but allowed Windows to be per-installed on it rather than their own OS. I believe hardware manufacturers are increasingly understanding that there are other companies better suited to making and advancing an OS, and if that OS can be found on competing manufacturers' devices (as with Windows), the familiarity the users have over time will mean users will specifically seek out devices *with* that OS... and anything that comes with some other manufacturer-specific OS will feel disconnected.

And there lies a problem for Sony.

For one, they are hyping up their TV's with Apps and connectivity to other Sony devices but then they are doing a Google TV product.

I don't get it. No focus here.

And I like Sony. I will be a Sony Playstation Vita owner in a month and love my PS3.
