Even Sony Ericsson’s update did not solve this problem. The new Arc S may have the corrective software, but I’m having a hell of a time finding a solution for this handset.

And the camera, as you say it can legitimately replace a point and shoot.

The other thing I like about the handset is its size, it feels alot smaller than a HD2 or desire HD and slightly larger than a galaxy s but you get a larger screen, so its a great compromise if you like lager screen phones but dont want to carry a tank. Finally, aesthetically, imo its one damn sexy phone, which at the end of the day is all that counts!
