Is that SE’s fault or due to a failure to standardize bluetooth?
I buy a bluetooth device ‘but it’s not the right type of bluetooth’
I think most of use will have had a ‘paired but not connected’ moment

I’ve used LV about several weeks, bluetooth is not a problem. But all features works correctly only with SE phones, this is the main problem.

The problem is blue tooth as always. In the vast amount of gadgets including the 3 I have tried it doesn’t work.

I couldn’t agree more with the review. My experience of the device with my HTC Desire has mirrored the reviewers findings exactly. I had high hopes for this device and was set to replace my usual watch, however I think it’ll be consigned to the ‘stuff I bought but never used shelf’ to gather dust! I think other commenters are being generous on their scores – the device isn’t what I would call ‘fit for purpose’… 2/10 Sony!

It would’ve been great if you could use the LiveView as a Bluetooth headset as well, but I guess that was asking too much!

Totally agree with this, won’t connect at all to my htc wildfire, and is so intermittent with thex10i it’s a down right pita. Screen is poor quality and strap crap.very easy to dislodge. Poor attempt sony. 6/10

I have the same problem with a Samsung Tab. BT problems, disconnet very often, crash Device.
waiting new Sony Ericsson sw release… hope delivery very soon!!!!

Great concept. I am hoping either Sony or another company steps up and improves on it.

For myself I would ideally like to carry a 7inch tablet such as the Galaxy as my mobile device. Having something like this as an extension of that to answer calls, make calls, receive notifications and possibly use it to check the time/weather or sports scores would be amazing.

I agree with this review also. I bought the device to develop the plugin for Cycle Hire Widget, which became the 11th third-party app – check out our video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r-o5QY9hHA or http://bit.ly/lft-lv to see it in action. Development experience was fairly painless with a good SDK, and the concept is awesome – I reckon these types of things will become ubiquitous – but the device is horrific in everyday use, and Engadget are saying Sony Ericsson told them it can never be flash-upgraded so this experience is what you’re stuck with forever. If that statement is true, this should only be of interest to early-adopter developers – it feels like it’s been rushed out for the Christmas market when it’s nothing like ready for primetime.

I purchased the Liveview. I agree and fully support this review. It right on. The device also causes my EVO to lock up. When the LiveView loses it connection it tries to reconnect which somehow causes my phone to lock up. Most of the functions don’t work out the box. Most of these have no fix at this time. The calender function doesn’t work, which was a big reason I purchased the device. However it worked really well with my media player. The battery doesn’t last as long as stated. Scale of 1-10 the device is a 5 at this point. Really wouldn’t recommend purchase at this time. Hopefully Sony will get some of the issues this device worked out soon.

It does work on the Galaxy Tab, yes. Though the LiveView media player controls don’t work with Samsung’s Music app on the Tab – only the volume functions operate, not the track skip or play/pause.
