Sony Ericsson has described screenshots showing the XPERIA Arc apparently running Android 2.4 as "a misconfiguration in some samples", as well as confirming that the 4.2-inch smartphone runs Qualcomm's 1GHz MSM8255 processor paired with Adreno 205 graphics. According to the company's official blog, the higher version numbers - which some suggested was indication Sony Ericsson would launch the Arc with a version of Android higher than Gingerbread on the Nexus S - are "nothing to get too excited about."
Still, with Android 2.3 the XPERIA Arc is still a slick handset, as we discovered in our hands-on with the smartphone last week. Sony Ericsson has also confirmed four-point multitouch and WiFi b/g/n, though it's worth noting that the Arc lacks both NFC and a front-facing camera.
