Sony announced their DVDirect VDR-MC6 today which is set to replace the VDR-MC5 DVD recorder. This new model allows the transfer of SD and HD videos and photos from your camera to DVDs directly. No PC needed.
The new model is also smaller but has a bigger LCD screen that measures in at 2.7-inches. You can transfer HD or SD video straight from your Sony Handycam's hard drive or a flash drive.
Four background presets are included and there's also an auto-chapter feature. It can write to 8.5GB DVD+R discs, has Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. You can get the DVDirect VDR-MC6 in September for $229.
