Sony is all about their Blu-ray format. They’re behind it so much that they have decided to stop supporting the regular DVD format on all future DVR systems.

Blu-ray

That’s right, if you want to put your saved movies and TV shows onto a disc, you’ll need to have a spare Blu-ray disc handy. It’s a good idea to put Blu-ray burners into their DVRs, but why can’t they leave in the option of writing to a DVD? Granted, most people are going to choose to burn to Blu-ray because of its larger sise, but the backward compatibility is always nice.

What do you guys think? Would you be willing to drop the cash on a DVR with a Blu-ray burner with the possibility that HD DVD becomes the new standard? At least if it had a DVD burner on it you could still burn and watch your TV shows.
