We know that thousands of Sony batteries have been recalled, but unfortunately, like all recalls, not all of the affected batteries have been replaced. Anyone that even thinks that they might have one should really contact their notebook’s manufacturer. If not, you could end up with a horribly burned laptop just like the one below.

Burnt PowerBook

The owners of laptop that caught fire last year are currently suing both Apple Japan and Sony for a sum of over $16,700 for damages caused when the battery overheated and caught fire. The man claims that the suffered burns on his finger when it caught fire, and his wife is seeking damages for mental distress.

Honestly, I don’t think it will take much to get this case settled. First, the batteries are known to have these issues, and second, they’re asking for a relatively small amount in damages. Had it happened over here in the states, someone would probably be asking for something closer to the million dollar mark.
