Sony 4K UHD TVs bring Android TV and HDR support

This week, Sony announced the pricing and availability for some new Ultra HD 4K televisions, of which there are three models in a total of five sizes. The highest end of the bunch, the XBR-X800D, brings with it HDR support while the XBR-X750D and the XBR-X700D will both gain HDR support later this year through a firmware update. In addition, the trio bring with them Android TV for Google Play access directly on the TV. All three models are available for preorder now.

The TVs can be preordered now in the following sizes for the following prices:

XBR-49X800D, 49" class (48.5″ diag) , $1,499.99 MSRP

XBR-43X800D, 43" class (42.5″ diag), $1,299.99 MSRP

XBR-65X750D, 65" class (64.5″ diag), $2,299.99 MSRP

XBR-55X700D, 55" class (54.6″ diag), $1,499.99 MSRP

XBR-49X700D, 49" class (48.5″ diag), $999.99 MSRP

The TVs will start shipping and be available for general purchase starting next month. When the firmware update for the XBR-750D and the XBR-700D will be released wasn't stated.

In addition to the HDR support and the Android TV inclusion, these new TVs also including home automation control via the Logitech Harmony Hub, of which there are more than 270,000 supported devices (connected light bulbs, etc). The Android TV inclusion also offers voice search enhanced with natural language processing, according to Sony, and there's Google Cast for casting content.
