That’s what I originally thought this was all about. At least you don’t need expensive glasses with this, but there are the obvious downsides.

This is not only good for games but also everyday TV its self. Think about it, your wife or girlfriend or mother etc will be weatching eastenders, while you are watching football or a wicked horror movie at your comfert without the aid of having to move rooms or buy another 3D tv. :)

I will wait until glasses free TV’s are released and then only relying on headphones to counter the other viewers experience. Unless they also release a new sound splitter where it only sends the sound in one direction to another, giving you a complete experience that will blow you away.

This is possibly the only reason I would buy a 3D TV. Shame it would only work for 2 player. I guess it’d be cool for team-based 4-player games.

The could get rid of the problem if they use 120Hz Tvs paired with glasses to block out 60 of the TVs 120 images per second. That way each player gets a regular 60Hz refresh rate for their view, AND the viewing angles would be wider.

BTW I didn’t come up with this on my own, it’s part of their original patent from a couple months ago.

I remember reading about this a couple years ago. They wanted to use it for a family to watch two programs (thus needing headphones for different audio streams.) This seems like a much better use but sitting on the edge of a TV (especially one with a bad viewing angle) might negate the potential benefits.
