Snapchat now offers temporary custom geofilters, starting at $5

When you're taking a picture with Snapchat, there are a few different overlays that you can pick from. These include the time, your speed, and the current temperature. And depending on your location, you might find a unique geofilter. Soon, you'll be able to create your own temporary geofilter, for a price.

Last year, the company started offering custom geofilters to large companies. They could pay a large sum of money for a custom badge that will show up for people taking snaps in their area. While this was a nice way to add some extra revanue for the company, the geofilters were rather expensive. But now they're looking to offer inexpensive, temporary ones, that anyone can submit.

Let's say you're hosting an event, and all of your hip friends that use Snapchat will be coming. You can design a unique badge that they can add to all of their snaps for the night. You'll need to design the badge, then setup a specific time and a geofence for it. This means setting a specific area where the geofilter will work. Ideally, you'd just fence off the location of the event, with a little bit of a buffer.

Once you've got everything setup, you'll need to send it off to Snapchat for review. They'll get back to you in one business day, and let you know how much the charge will be. The geofilters will start at $5, but can increase in price depending on the size of the area you want it to cover, and how long you want to make it available.
