Snapchat introduces "Story Explorer" feature

Snapchat has added a new feature called "Story Explorer," which makes its easy for users to explore moments that are related. This feature will tie together the hundreds or thousands of moments that are related to each other, such as snaps of breaking news events or sports games. The feature is launching first for Los Angles and New York Live Stories, and will be rolling out to cover "many more" unspecified stories in the near future.

Story Explorer builds upon Snapchat Stories, allowing users to browse related snaps by swiping upward. As you can see in the demonstration video below, swiping up pulls a new related moments into view, allowing you to see the same event, but from a different perspective. This is made possible by technology Snapchat says it has developed.

Says Snapchat, Story Explorer aims to "provide more depth to every Snap in a Story." As mentioned, the feature is arriving in a limited fashion — to the NY and LA Live Stories — with expansion plans in place. It isn't clear when the company plans to expand the feature to cover other stories, though.

This follows the introduction of a paid lens store recently, which allows Snapchatters to purchase lenses for $0.99, building upon the free lenses Snapchat already offered. Snapchat is launching 30 paid lenses in its store daily, doing so for users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US. Check out the timeline below for more Snapchat news!
