Smoke-filled Wiis won't play Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I don't live in Japan, nor do I own Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, many of those that do are reporting disc read issues with the latest Wii sensation. While most people are quick to cry "bad disc!" Nintendo is convinced that the issue lies with the fact that gamers are smoking.

Yea, think about that one for a minute. I was a bit lost a first too, so don't feel bad. The idea is that smokers are more likely to have a dirty lens on the inside of their console. Smokers aren't the only ones affected, a simple issue of a dusty lens can also cause the problem.

While that may seem to make sense, why don't these people have the same problems with other Wii titles? That's because SSBB is the first game that uses a dual-layer disc, which is less forgiving of a dirty lens. Remember back in the good old days when you had to blow on your cartridge to make it work? You might try blowing on the inside of your Wii.

There's actually a happy ending to the story. Nintendo is more than happy to take your dirty tobacco-encrusted Wii and fix it at no cost to you, no questions. Seriously Nintendo, are you off your rocker? You're a big company, you're supposed to be screwing the little guy, not helping him out. Sheesh, and to think I looked up to them.
