who cares how thin it’s going to be. people are going to flock to it regardless of its size or usability. bottom line, people will buy it, it’s the new iphone, even if it’s called 4S2. and by the way, watch the stock reach $1000 this time.

Be prepared for a new bunch of faults with the up coming iPhone. Of course it well be the publics fault cause anything that Apple brings out will be perfect in their eyes and we just use them wrong. Apple should increase the battery capacity rather then making the phone thinner.

AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) is a display technology and not a touch screen. While what Sharp and Toshiba Mobile Display are offering is a merger of the glass and touch screen layers that go above the display screen.

Though, for Apple, it does have the added benefit of them not having to order them from Samsung :-P

However, there is a question of durability as the top glass layer is usually something like gorilla glass.

In any case, this is but one of the rumored changes coming to the next iPhone. More interesting, I think, is the removal of the back side glass and changing the case to a liquid metal. So combine that with the thinner screen and it might just mean they can make it noticeably thinner. Though you might still have to compare it to the older models to tell.

from your list the only one that for sure the “new iPhone” could have is the LTE and that is because they will use the same SOC that’s on “the new iPad” but under-clocked

Isn’t that what AMOLED already does? It has the touch digitizer integrated in the display which allows it to be thinner in addition to not needing a backlight like LCD does. What’s so new here? And nothing new about Apple jumping all over claiming it to be magical and revolutionary stuff from Apple itself either.

Apple will not release their new iPhone for another 5 or 6 months and we are already getting unsubstantiated “tips” and “rumors” for what it will be like on this Site. Is there anyone else SICK of hearing about pending phone features months in advance? Report other news SlashGear. Here is a list of the features the new iPhone will likely have (you have my permission to copy and post this once SlashGear…)

The iPhone 5 will have:

- LTE capability
- a redesigned case (possible unibody with some new material)
- an “enhanced” display (possibly bigger than the current 3.5 inch screen)
- improved SIRI algorithm/integration
- faster processor (quad core or better)

All hail the new thinnest, magical device (called the New IPhone btw) which is a whopping 0.2mm thinner than its older magical wonderous brother called the Iphone 4S. By the way, touch the case, do you feel the smoothness? Good, now put the damn case on so you can protect that greatness and more importantly, to prevent any signal loss so you can make your damn phone call.

This new, limited, expensive change… will only make the device 0.5 mm thinner.
Look at a ruler and see how much 1/2 of one of those tiny mm lines really is.
You would *NEVER* notice any difference at all… while using/holding an actual device.

Point? Useless.
