Well, it wasn’t the smoothest bike ride I’ve ever had, but it was surprisingly good considering the size/nature of the wheels. Potholes should definitely be avoided, though, given you’re likely to end up going flying over the handlebars if you get the (small) wheels stuck.

Three years late but still… your review describes the bike but offers no descriptions of how it rides. Did you actually ride it? On the road? Did it, perhaps, fall in teacup-sized potholes? did it vibrate? Maybe it was quite smooth? Please tell – if you can remember after all these years!

I’m slightly concerned after reading multiple users’ stories of how the A-Bike “broke.” I plan to ride mine on a jogging trail to my gym that’s 20 blocks away. $150 is not a lot to me, but I selected a gym so far away thinking I’d ride my A-Bike there & store it in my locker. If it breaks, I won’t have the reliable transport to the gym that I expected to. However, I can’t slam it yet because as of now, I love it. Wish me luck!

Hi – I purchased an A-bike recently. Very soon thereafter, it broke. I’ve gotten no response from support at their website. Someone on the A-bike forum, though, who had a similar experience suggested I contact Mayhem. Could you supply me with Mayhem’s contact information?

Two miles of flat cycling shouldn’t be a problem on the A-Bike, Tali, and it’ll be a cinch to take it onto the train. As for the tyre valve, it’s unfortunately not a standard size (according to the A-Bike site); they sell a compatible pump for £14.99. Standard lights should just clamp onto the bike’s frame, though you might need to be canny where you put them so as not to get in the way of the folding mechanism.

Hi there, I’m about to start a new job and will be commuting by train. The office is about 2 miles or so from the railway station (flat terrain) so I’m wondering if the A-bike is the solution. I’ve seen some v heavy folding bikes which don’t particularly appeal (I have to change trains and carrying those things up and down platform overbridge steps doesn’t particularly appeal!). Also can you use a regular bike pump and lights on an A-bike?
