These SSF boxes are are a great idea but the &#039;need&#039; to use GNU-Linux will always hamper their uptake.
The above quote illustrates more the lack of any genuinely helpful help for newcomers to Linux than a problem with Linutop. 
It wouldn&#039;t surprise me if either the makers didn&#039;t include useful help because they couldn&#039;t find any or being &#039;linux-philes&#039; didn&#039;t recognise the need.]]></description>

It&#039;s XFCE. This box runs an adapted version of Xubuntu and therefore does not have the &quot;default&quot; Gnome desktop. I don&#039;t think Gnome would even run fluidly on just 256 megs of ram.

I&#039;m using Xubuntu on an old pc with lower specs than this box (but I do have 40 Gigs of Hard disc space :D ) and it runs fine.

It this thing can do a network boot it can be really usefull.]]></description>
