These SSF boxes are are a great idea but the ‘need’ to use GNU-Linux will always hamper their uptake.
The above quote illustrates more the lack of any genuinely helpful help for newcomers to Linux than a problem with Linutop.
It wouldn’t surprise me if either the makers didn’t include useful help because they couldn’t find any or being ‘linux-philes’ didn’t recognise the need.

It’s XFCE. This box runs an adapted version of Xubuntu and therefore does not have the “default” Gnome desktop. I don’t think Gnome would even run fluidly on just 256 megs of ram.

I’m using Xubuntu on an old pc with lower specs than this box (but I do have 40 Gigs of Hard disc space :D ) and it runs fine.

It this thing can do a network boot it can be really usefull.
