SlashGear Morning Wrap-up 2/5/2014: Galaxy S5, Titanfall, Pyramids

This morning we've got some new news and some news that's been in the making for 120 million years. While we've got reasearch popping up that describes how it's possible for northern China to have such a massive amount of fossils appearing in one place, we're also talking about the iWatch. In this you'll really come to appreciate the breadth of tech news coverage in general – it's wide open this week!

Over the past few days we've gone over February releases for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, letting you know what you've got to look forward to throught he next few weeks. This week Facebook turned 10 and Microsoft named their new CEO. Will Satya Nadella be enough to send Microsoft back into the wholly-gaining side of the tech sales leaderbooks? It might depend on how anti-Ballmer he is.

Samsung would appear to be ramping up its next set of releases with the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Gear 2 for the international conference known as Mobile World Congress 2014. This means an ever-so-slightly larger smartphone with a denser display and a smartwatch that's a bit more tuned-to-life.

Google has given the European Comission an improved proposal to end its antitrust investigation. They're hoping it'll worth rather than pay up to $5 billion USD in fees.

The stand-out auto to have been (re)revealed in the past 24 hours is the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, a machine that gets 28mpg on the road. Here we're seeing this truck's new 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine bring on this next-generation set of power and fuel efficiency for release soon – and very soon.

Titanfall has been the subject of some interesting release rumors over the past several days, its creators letting loose some details on how it'll be sent out for beta testing. One bit includes the need for Origin service on your PC before you're able to play it in beta mode – or in final mode, for that matter. They've also loosed some miminum specifications for the game on the PC – easy peasy!

If you're not counting the fossils in China, our oldest news today comes from Egypt where a 4600 year-old stepped pyramid has been discovered. This structure might not be the oldest pyramid in existence, but it does pre-date the Great Pyramids by a significant stretch.
