As you may have spotted, we’ve had a serious change of style here at SlashGear this weekend. Our new design gives us more room for bigger homepage images, better highlights feature content and editorials, and makes it easier to navigate between our network sites using the topbar. It should also load faster, which means you can get to the latest news in consumer electronics even quicker, and has better integration with the SlashGear Forum, included threaded comments.

Our fresh new look is the handiwork of designer Onur from Monofactor, who has also been responsible for well-known themes such as Portfolious. SlashGear has been tested with Internet Explorer 8, FireFox 3.5, Safari, Opera and Chrome, so if you’re seeing any issues with any of those browsers, please let us know.
We’ve also taken the opportunity to drop support for IE6. Given the leaps in security and usability since Microsoft ended development for the old browser, it makes sense for anybody still using it to upgrade to one of the many (free) alternatives.
This is among the first of a number of new developments for SlashGear and the R3 Media Network, which we have planned for the coming months. Remember, you can follow us via our RSS feed, via the email mail-out, or on the official SlashGear Twitter, and get in touch with us here.

I love the new look! The new design will open doors to more features we’re planning on adding to SlashGear in the next few months.

Thanks a lot for the mention guys =)
I have to add though, it was Ewdison who made the final touches on the code since I ran out of battery myself =)
I so much enjoyed (and still enjoying) working for you people.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with for Android Community. It’s been way over due for a fresh integrated look!

The reason we dropped IE6 support is because less than 0.07 SG readers are using it, we dont see a point supporting browser that is over 5 years old
