Desktop apps are not offered in the Windows store. So there are no desktop ARM apps outside of what MS provides: explorer, ie, office.

That Sinofsky post is so TL/DR. So if I was to write an internal app for my company/agency’s WOA users, I’d have to post it to the MS appstore? Hmmm…

It is worth noting that WOA will NOT HAVE a generic, unlimited Desktop Mode.

ONLY Microsoft applications will be able to run in Desktop Mode.

If you want an unlimited Desktop-mode on ARM you will still need to familiarize yourself with Linux and Android.

Once Microsoft will be done with the ARM-port of all their software and customers trust it there will be less demand for it.

The higher ARM chips climb up the ladder of performance the less competitive they will become compared to x86 from Intel.

x86 is catching up quickly.

In 3-5 years there will no or a much lesser need for high performance ARM SoCs.

I will stay away from anything that has to do with Windows and ARM.

iOS and ARM: yes
Windows and ARM: not really

expect the competition to get CRUSHED by Microsoft (hint iFad), with the tablet market, and the phone market (Microsoft already owns the desktop/laptop market and that will obviously continue with windows 8) Why? Windows8 is a fully blown OS, not some crippled toy OS like iOS.
Add that to many types of form factors from different manufactures, and the buttery smooth metro, it’s all a game changer.
