Skype now supports real-time video translation

We know that Skype has been providing free video chats for 10 years now, and has even announced group video chats for mobile. But what happens when you're using those free video chats to talk to someone on the other side of the globe, that doesn't speak your language? Well, Skype now has an answer for that.

Skype announced their Translator tool back in 2014, which has been invaluable for people who don't share a common language. However, the tool requires you to have two different applications installed for it to work. Well today, the company announced that their Translator will now be built directly into the Windows version of Skype.

If you're making a call to someone who speaks another language, you'll just click on the new globe that's in the top-right of the window. You'll then be able to have your conversation translated into one of the seven supported languages: Chinese Mandarin, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

While the new feature has rolled out today for all Windows users, there is no word on when (or even if) it will come to any other platforms.
