Simplicam adds detection zones for fine-tuned home security

When it comes to the 'Internet of Things', context is important. Not the context on background of the sensor or item, but context in how it can make the info it's grabbing make sense. An often overlooked part of your smart, contextual home is the security camera. For DIY home security monitoring, nothing outshines Simplicam. Already a winner due to facial recognition, Simplicam is now offering detection zones, which you can program yourself. Now, you'll be able to get alerts exactly as you want and need them.

With detection zones, a child playing can be digitally monitored to stay in a designated area. If junior wanders a bit too far, you'd know via detection zones. Getting a touch more contextual, you can use facial recognition to know your child is staying put, even if his or herĀ friends end up going home for the day.

Caroline Tien-Spalding, Senior Director of Marketing at ArcSoft, said "With the addition of Detection Zones and other updates, like easier video sharing and increased sensitivity features, we are continuing to deliver on our promise of a truly customized connected home experience."

In addition to being able to set detection zones, Simplicam owners are getting some in-app tweaks as well. Users can now edit and share video clips, and permanently delete clips from their timeline. Simplicam now has better night vision as well as improved sensitivity for its sensors.

At $149, Simplicam simply offers more than other cameras in its class, which it was already at the top of. Now that you've got the full gamut of features you'd likely be looking for (night vision, facial recognition, detection zones), there's almost no reason not to snap up a Simplicam.
