SimCity for Mac issues causing some gamers frustration

With the SimCity launch fiasco that took place earlier this year still in fresh in the mind of gamers, many have plodded ahead and downloaded the newly launched SimCity from Mac. Not too long after the download became available, however, comments and tweets are appearing from users who are experiencing a variety of issues with the game, among them being the inability to download it at all.

The game was made available only as a digital download through Origin, and with it came the promise that PC and Mac gamers would be playing on the same servers, among other new options and such. While all that is nice, many gamers are reporting that they aren't able to download the game, or that they're having to try multiple times before getting it to install.

Once installed, however, gamers are also reporting other problems, among them being the game not being able to play in fullscreen mode, reverting itself automatically back to a smaller window. Others are having problems with lagging, with graphics showing up poorly, and more. A look at the EA forums has users reporting that they're using new and high-end Apple hardware that meets the minimum requirements.

The folks over at TUAW received a statement about the issues from a Maxis spokesperson who said, "There are a small number of players who have encountered issues with SimCity for Mac. Our live team is working individually with our players to resolve their issues and get them into the game as quickly as possible."

Heading over to Twitter and taking a gander under the @SimCity hashtag, some Mac users have installed the game and are using it without issue, so how widespread the problems are isn't quite ascertainable yet. For those who are having problems, EA has put a short troubleshooting post in its forums, advising users to do things like re-install Origin and to run an app cleaner.
