Who knows what awesome powers The Boy Genius has to acquire all the pre-production cellphones he plays with, but rather than puzzle over it until our bladders ache instead let’s enjoy his hands-on experience of the new Sidekick Slide (aka Zante). A similar form-factor to the Sidekick 3, though returning perhaps to the more squared-off predecessors, it has a smaller, higher-resolution screen and quad-band GSM/EDGE.
Rumoured to be launching on T-Mobile in the US in Q3 this year, feature-wise the Slide looks to be pretty similar to existing Sidekick models. Thankfully the keyboard doesn’t look to be changed much, either. Reception (on what is, remember, a pre-production handset) is changeable, although the apparently superb speakerphone seems to help make the most of when you’ve got a signal.
It takes a lot to impress TBG, and yet the Slide seems to be leaving him with a smile on his face:
“It’s so far our favorite Sidekick to date, but maybe we’re just hype. It does combine every existing feature we’re used to, and improves on some of them. So there isn’t much to hate when we’re getting that in a smaller, hipper device”
We’re promised a video review soon, but until then you’ll have to make do with his photo gallery.

Too many aspect were left aside :
1/smaller screen ( I’m sure everybody wanted a bigger one)
2/it’s Edge (not 3G)
3/the camera is 1.3MP (come on, no phone make 1.3MP camera anymore)
4/128 MB internal memory (you take 1 pic with your 1.3 MP camera and it’s full)
5/NO WIFI ( no comment @#$%#^!)
6/can’t download apps
7/it looks larger than the actual sidekick 3 to me
8/AND they left the main attraction of the phone ” The Sidekick “, this one slides ….Yuck

i read that this one charges from usb which is awsomee becasue my phone only charges ghetto style, and takes over 12 HOURS to fully charge.

I personally like the swivel there are to many phones that are sliders now-a-days. They need to make it unique.

Yea, it does seem like a good buy but aren’t they also coming out with another sidekick too? Or am I thinking of the same one as when you go to sidekick.com they are shwoing even another one.

Yea, I don’t like the blue all that much but it may just be the picture. It probably (I assume) looks better in person.
ok well the screen is smaller, it’s slides (WHOA, how amazing - N0T!!) what kinda idiot would make a side kick that doesn’t “kick” to the “side” .. DUH! The ugliest colors, looks so dull. Motorola is so LAME!

I would prefer the swivel screen, I guess I just like the differentness of the swivel than the regular sliding action.

ive had the slide and the LX, currently i am using the slide and it is a lot better than te lx. it is smaller and has better reception, sure it has a sucky camera but you tards must not hav heard of a flippin digital camera. overall the slide is better only it would be great if they could come up with a futire one that swivels. ^^^this person needs to learn how to spell. and actually its really small i just got mine and its super thin. its screen is really high tech and so much better than other sidekicks. but it would be nice if they kept the flip affect on this phone. it would make it 2 times better than how great it already is.
the slide is thin dummies the pics above just make it look big and it has great resolution and everything looks great

Better than the lx…iTZ smaller and cuter for a gurl….its better bcuz it slides up very unique…if it sides 2 the side the screen ***** up and it dosnt wanna cl0se….I prefer the slide than the lx …

the keyboad looks really easy to type on cause it is like the sk3.

Hey yeah I have this phone and its alrite the browser could do a lil updating but everthing else is there, the only thing is, is its not really photogenic lol but once you get your hands on it you won’t wanna let go well unless you go with the very expenisive iphone that is but the sidekick slide actually looks nice in person. And the only question I have with it is y the hek does it not play videos, if sprint phones can do it I mean anyone can do it lol I reccommend this phone rite under the iphone and if your looking for a cheap and good service go with t-mobile : )
I just got this phone and I absolutely love it and I been getting compliments left and right so all you haters can go suck a juicebox
I have the sidekick slide, It is a good phone.
But sometimes It will mess up sending txts and just send them FOREVER.
So you’ll have too turn the phone off too fix it.
Another problem I have been expierincing with it, is if you take the SIM and BATTERY out it deletes EVERYTHING in the phone not stored too the SIM.
It really sucks,
but the phone itself is very silm and compact, it’s gorgeous, and I like it ALOT better than ALL my friends SK’s.
Hey coot it dsnt really delete everthing it stores it and dl’s everthing back that you had on it back to your phone. But the only problem is that smtimes it takes forever to get em back.
