I’ve had a few people email me asking if I know when T-Mobile UK will start selling the Sidekick 3 - well, I was in a T-Mobile store yesterday and managed to have a play with the single model they had in stock. Apparently they’ve had three-times the demand for them than supplies, with stores only getting replacements in once the first has sold. So my advice is, ring ahead! As of writing this, the T-Mobile website still has no mention of it.
My first impressions were that while the keyboard is good, the UI is a bit “kiddie”. Hopefully the demo unit winging its way will change my mind on that point; look out for our UK-model-specific review soon!

Do you guys have any idea whether or not this will be usable outside of UK and specifically outside of t-mobiles network? I live in sweden using tele2, I’d like to get my hands on a sidekick. they dun sell em’ here tho since we dun have t-mobile.

Unfortunately the push-email functionality is dependent on T-Mobile’s servers - if you bought an unlocked handset (which might be quite difficult to find in the first place) then it would only make calls and SMS on tele2, since they haven’t got the server backbone in place. You could buy one in the UK and take it to Sweden, but then of course you’d be paying roaming charges which would be very, very expensive!
If it’s push-email you’re after, have you considered another smartphone and Microsoft’s Exchange?

No push-email for me actually, I honestly never use a phone to surf at all - I just use sms, mms and make calls. That’d work, wouldn’t it?
How much would an unlocked piece go for ya think? so the only way would be to get a piece that has been unlocked in a pirated way?
That should work, I think, but I’m not sure how much you’d have to pay for the handset on its own. Try eBay, perhaps?
Are they going to be supporting all of the IM networks on Sidekick 3 in the UK. I’ve read that the Sidekick 2 only supported AIM in the UK…

U can get one from t-mobile store..only the big store tho.Some eBay sellers are offering just the phone without contract but u can only use if u’re with T-mobile already.I have not heard of an unlocked sidekick.I got mine about a month ago and T-mobile said that they will unlock the sidekick 30days after purchase.
i tried to buy the sidekick 3 on the t-mobile website but it wouldn’t let me put in my post code it only let numbers and not letters is it because i live in the u.k

Unfortunately T-Mobile are doing a pretty poor job of advertising the SK3. Still not available on their website; were you trying to order on the US site, Kirsty?

hey. i have 3 questions-
1) If i live in england and am using vodafone contract, can I get a sidekick 3 and put my sim card in there? Or would I have to wait until my contract is over then switch to t-mobile?
2) How much is the sidekick 3 on contract/pay as you go? (in £)
3) Will the sidekick 3 support msn messenger like the us version or just AIM?

So where can yu get these in the uk? Ive been on the website and there not on there as far as i can see.
i was able to upgrade 2 weeks ago and wanted the siidekick 3 they told me that they have stopped selling it in the uk and will not b bringing out again and will also not be bringing out any of the limited eddition ones

Well I spoke to T-Mobile recently and they say they have no plans whatsoever to release MSN Messenger for the SK3.

RIGHT let me clear a few things up that i’ve found on my travels with the Sidekick 3!
Sidekick 3 is AVALIBLE in the UK for sale ONLY with a contract.
They are AVALIBLE online and in store.
If you call t-mobile sales line they are talking out there arse. I had the same problem with them giving me crap that they dont sell it anymore. However t-mobile uk did stop selling LAST year but we brought it back because we found more and more people were demanding it. Due to its USA celebrity factor.
If you want one your best bet is to go to a t=mobile store or online!
If you go online it will only be on the pay monthly pages! Under T-mobile branded phones.
It wont EVER be out on pay as you go unless you buy it off ebay and put a pay as u go sim into which would be worthless because of data requirements.
There are no plans for the Sidekick I.D as yet but give them time and they probably will add it to the website.
AND there is not point in asking about the sidekick 4 (also knowen as the LX & Zante) because it hasnt even hit the shelfs in the USA yet.
And btw the only way to get the special edition Sidekick 3’s would be ebay if your lucky.
They were only realeased in the USA and were numbered limited edition sidekicks so i cant see many people parting with them.
Unlocked sidekick’s are a waste of time aswell because you wouldnt be able to use much on it apart from calls and txt and thats just no fun.
Sidekick 3 is useable outside the UK BUT i must stress that if you do plan to travel with it make sure you let t-mobile no before hand… otherwise roaming charges will just kick the crap out of your bill…. all it takes is one simple phone call (150 from your handset) and they’ll get you nicely sorted to travel with your friendly sidekick :)
Also in reply to aspenridge if you dont have t-mobile in sweden i personally wouldnt bother it would cause you more hassle than it worth!
MSN is in the works but from what we’re told microshaft… i mean microsoft are being pathetic about how we’re going to pay them for it. Please be patient its not T-Mobiles fault that MSN isnt over here yet!!!

I am desperate to get my hands on a sidekick 3. Ive been searching the net ALL day but I cant find a price for the phone in a UK store. Do you have any idea how much i need to pay. I also saw a REALLY nice pink sidekick but the website says its rare. Will I be able to buy one in a T-Mobile store.

I just want a sidekick!! they are soooo cool!! no one i know in the uk has one!! The look fantastic!! i just want to know when they will come to the uk and how much they will cost on payg. They are like the ultimate phones!! i need one sooooo bad!! i always imagine having one!! i know it sounds sad but thats how much i love that phone!!
