Sideclick accessory adds TV control to set-top remote

If you've a set top box of some sort, such as a Roku player or the Amazon Fire TV, that means you have at least two remotes sitting in the entertainment room: one that controls the television itself, and one that controls the set top box. Sideclick is an accessory that turns the set top box into a universal remote of sorts, in that it adds an extra row of buttons that allows the user to power the TV on and off, adjust the volume, and more from the set top box remote itself.

The Sideclick is exactly what it sounds like — an accessory that clicks onto the side of your existing set top box remote. It allows the user to power their TV on and off, change the channel, adjust the volume, change the source/video input, and pull up the menu to program the TV. It is a universal remote, meaning it can be programmed to the user's own television.

Because set-top box remotes come in different shapes and sizes, the Sideclick accessory is offered in designs that conform to the most common remote types, include the Fire TV remote, the Roku player remote, and the Apple TV remote. It operates using a pair of AAA batteries.

True Bloom, the company behind the Sideclick, is looking to raise $150,000 USD on Kickstarter, where they have so far raised $69,700 USD with 31 days remaining. Those who are interested can get the "Super Early Bird" unit for $20 USD, with shipping to those backers being scheduled to go live in October of this year. Those who don't get one of the early bird units will have to wait until November instead.
