With all of Vincent’s criticism of UMPCs, it’s dangerous to raise your head above the virtual parapet and mention their grandpappy: the OQO. Now, in its 01+ incarnation, this tiny touchscreen tearaway gets a good reviewing at the hands of Jen Lee.
With SlashGear’s review of the Samsung Q1 UMPC arriving imminently on your screens, why not flip back through the family tree a little and see whether the OQO has a future or if it should just settle back in its rocking chair and tell crappy stories nobody wants to listen to.

Chris - being an editor on SlashGear myself, I must say I look forward to your enlighten and humorous articles everyday. They really complete my day and put a smile on my face.
Now - this whole UMPC business really baffles me because I still can’t wrap my head around how useless it is – adding very little contribution to my mobile life. On many occasions, I’ve broken into shear frustrations and kick feel like pulling all my hair out. There is hope for the new platform though…we’re releasing some info regarding on screen gesture technology in a few days. By the way, remind me to send you info for that story :).
