Shigeru Miyamoto goes hands-on with Wii U future projects

This week the creator of some of the biggest names in video games has shown off some of Nintendo's next big projects. What you'll see here is Shigeru Miyamoto showing off two titles for Wii U for the near future: Project Giant Robot and Project Guard. At this time it's not clear if these will be the final names for the games, but they're ready to play on the E3 2014 show floor, so they must be close to release!

Project Giant Robot

With the Wii U GamePad Controller at your disposal, you'll be taking control of a massive robot aiming to topple your opponents. The controller allows you to see from the robot's eyes while the bit screen allows you to see from a broader perspective. The GamePad controls the robot's upper torso while the left and right control sticks control the robot's right and left arms.

UPDATE: Nintendo has now made clear that this game will be launched in the "first half of 2015" for Wii U. It is a single-player game only.

Project Guard

With a system of 12 cameras shown at all times, you'll be keeping control of a base. This base is shown on cameras on your main display, and with a top-down view on your GamePad display. Some Robots attacking your base are only visible on the TV display, while others are only visible on your GamePad. The invasion begins, and you're in control of the whole lot – it's up to you to keep control of this hectic piece of magic.

UPDATE: Nintendo suggests that this game will be released in 2015 – not necessarily in the first half, but at some point before the end of the year.

Miyamoto on the show floor

Here you'll see Miyamoto taking command of the games in real life. Users on the E3 2014 show floor are shown the game up close, while a third game has been shown off the floor for a select, small audience. This third game is, of course: Star Fox.

Stick around as we have a peek at the rest of E3 2014 this whole week! We've got more trailers and gameplay to show you than you'll know what to do with!
